Coco Gauff may be dominating the tennis court, but off the court, she's serving up some serious sass and style on social media. The New Balance-sponsored superstar recently revealed a very specific reason why she hops on Twitter after her matches.
It turns out the tennis star's sole reason for logging into Twitter after her matches isn't to catch up on the latest buzz or dodge digital barbs - it's all about checking out what her fans think of her outfit.

After a smashing performance at the US Open on Wednesday (August 28) night, where she sped through the second round in just over an hour, Gauff took the spotlight during her press conference. When asked how she handles the negativity often thrown at sports stars on social media, Gauff revealed her Twitter strategy with a wink.
When asked about her Twitter habits, Gauff had a surprising confession. "Twitter, I'm really not on", she said (via Daily Mail). "I only search one time after matches to see what people thought of my outfit. Oh, and I did also search to see Naomi's [Osaka], 'cause I kept hearing about it but didn't see it, and her outfit's great too."
It appears Gauff's Twitter visits are as brief as a flash. Her Instagram, on the other hand, gets more attention. "Instagram, I'll be on for 24 hours, so I'll be on until maybe the end of tomorrow and then I'll not be on it. Well, on my main account... I do have burners, so I don't see any of the tennis stuff."
Gauff is frequently active on TikTok, but she's got a clever way of avoiding tennis talk. "TikTok I'm on most of the time but I also do have a burner so I don't see any tennis." While she keeps up with trends and viral challenges, she cleverly sidesteps tennis-related content.
Twitter, however, is a different ball game. Gauff explained that even with a burner account, the platform seems to have a knack for tracking her. "Twitter is the only one that I'm not on at all because even with the burner the phone hears me speak and I don't know, my name comes up. I don't know if that's a real thing, but I believe in it."
Handling social media negativity is no easy feat, and Gauff doesn't shy away from addressing it. "You hear a lot of nasty things, people talk about your appearance, your family's appearance, and all these things", she said.
Gauff's method for dealing with trolls? A no-nonsense approach to blocking. "Personally, I just block... I'll literally spend 30 minutes just blocking all the people, I really don't care".
Gauff is hopeful that advancements in technology might provide some relief from online abuse. "I hope as technology increases, AI can help. You can be having a good day and then somebody will literally tell you, 'go kill yourself.'"
Following her victory over Tatjana Maria, the American No. 3 seed is gearing up for a tougher opponent in the third round against Elina Svitolina on Friday. Here's hoping Gauff's social media remains as stylishly clutter-free as her post-match outfit checks!
