Dalvi sets up title clash against Gule in Tennis

Pune, Sep 1 (UNI) Top seed Om Dalvi of Pune has set up a title clash against fifth seeded Ninad Ghule of Nashik in the boys event, while Aryalee Chavan of Phaltan will cross swords with Lavina Chawla of Pune in the corresponding girls event in the Tennis Tournament of Chhatarapati Shivaji Maharaj ''Test Games'' at the Shiv Chhatarapti Sports City courts at Mahalunge-Balewadi, near here.

In the semi-finals today, Dalvi disposed off Salil Rai of Nagpur in straight sets 6-0, 6-1 without exerting much. While in the other semi-finals Ghule outplayed unseeded Vishal Salvi of Nashik in identical fashion 6-2, 6-2.

Lavina Chawla of Pune, however, created a biggest upset of the day by topping the top seeded Tanya Gosavi also of Pune, posting a straight set of 6-2, 6-1 win in the semi-finals. While in the other semi-finals, Chavan shocked the second seeded rival Avanee Gosavi of Pune with a degree of comfort 6-1, 7-5.

Following are the results: Tennis (Semi-finals) Boys Singles: Om Dalvi (Pn) beat Salil Rai (Nag) 6-0, 6-1, Ninad Ghule (Nasik) beat Vishal Salvi (Nasik) 6-2, 6-2.

Girls Singles: Lavina Chawla (Pn) beat Anya Gosavi (Pn) 6-2, 6-2, Aryalee Chavan (Phaltan) beat Avnee Gosavi (Pn) 6-1, 7-5.

Badminton (semi-finals) Boys Singles Yashodhan Marathe (Pn) beat Devavarath. Bhalerao ( Pn) 18-21,21-15,21-15. VarunSarode (Pn) beat Neeraj Mahajan (Pn) 21-15,17-21,21-17.

Boys Doubles Yashodhan Marathe and Neeraj Mahajan (Pn) beat Devavarath Bhalerao and Pratik Mehta (Pn) 21-18, 21-17. Mayank Gole and Sidhant Ghorpade (Pn) beat Ishant Talwalkar and Gandhar Marathe 21-18, 21-17.

Girls Singles Anuradha Shrikhande (Pn) beat Mansi Gadgil (Pune) 8-3 (Conceded).

Saee Purandare (Pn) beat Sanyogita Ghorpade 21-11, 14-21, 21-13.

Girls Doubles Saee Purandare and Sanyogita Ghorpade (Pn) beat Radhika Joshi and Superna Joshi (Pn) 21-18, 21-12.

Mansi Gadgil and Tanvi Oak (Pune) w/o Shruti Mundada and Aporva Gandhi.
