Santiago, Feb 4: David Nalbandian suffered a shock defeat to compatriot and Davis Cup team mate Horacio Zeballos in the second round of the Santiago claycourt tournament on Feb 3.

Zeballos, a doubles player in Argentina's Davis Cup squad will now meet Potito Starace in the quarter finals.

Nalbandian, ranked World No.19 appeared clueless at the 108-ranked Zeballos' strong serves and failed to concentrate on the big points. In the end, Zeballos won comprehensively with the score reading 6-2 7-5.

For both the Argentine, this was their first encounter with each other.
