Davis Cup: India off to a strong start

Johannesburg, Sep 19: With Somdev Devvarman and Rohan Bopanna claiming two victories on the very first day of the Davis Cup World Group play-off tie against South Africa, India has started off the tournament on a strong note.

While Somdev defeated Izak Van der Merwe 7-6 (5), 6-3, 6-4 in the first single Bopanna dished out a comeback against Rik De Voest with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 triumph on Friday, Sep 18.

Now, India needs a win in Saturday, Sep 19 doubles rubber to grab an entry into the World Group after 11 years.
