Kolkata, Sep 16: He has only one match to create another history. That is wining a match in the Davis Cup and with the victory he will be the highest match winner in the history of the tournament. Leander Paes is on the brink of setting another mark in his long glorious career, precisely in the Davis Cup with 42 wins so far.

And Paes, the 43-year old icon in Indian tennis took a couple of minutes before stating, "I can remember two memorable victories. One was the win against Henri Laconte, the French superstar in the early 90s at their home courts in France. The second one was in 1995 when I was to able to defeat Goran Ivanisevic. He had come to play Davis Cup against us just after having won Wimbledon that year. Along with these two memorable singles victory, there are several doubles matches which I have won. But I cannot recall all those matches."
Speaking on the occasion where he will be playing with promising junior players like Ramkumar Ramanathan, Sumit Nagal, Saketh Myneni, Leander smiled and remarked, "I have another record in my kitty that I have accompanied nine generations of players in the Davis Cup in my career. So, I do not have any dogma that my prestige will be lost if I accompany the junior players like Ramkumar or Sumit."
And simultaneously, Leander who will be playing the doubles match with Saket Myneni in the Davis Cup against Spain, starting from today, stressed by saying, "I will be the happiest man if one day I find that any of the juniors have become able to knock me out of my place in the squad."
