Davis Cup: World No. 1 Novak Djokovic cancels Bangalore trip

Bangalore, Sep 8: World number one Novak Djokovic has pulled out of the Davis Cup World Group play-off against India.

India will play Serbia here in Bangalore from September 12 to 14 at the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association (KSLTA) stadium.

Djokovic was expected to be in the city for the tie but now the Indian fans will be disappointed to hear this news of him opting out.

The 27-year-old Djokovic has withdrawn from the tie due to "fatigue", according to team's non-playing captain Bogdan Obradovic.

"Our best player Novak Djokovic is definitely not coming to India. The biggest reason is fatigue," Obradovic was quoted as saying on the Serbian website novosti.rs on Monday.

On Sunday, talking to the media here in Bangalore, Obradovic had said, "I will talk to him (Djokovic) tonight and check with him - what is the situation now."

Djokovic lost to Japan's Kei Nishikori in the US Open semi-final on Saturday (September 6).
