Delhi through to men''s, women''s team final in tennis

Ranchi, Feb 24 (PTI) Delhi lined itself up for a doubleas it entered the finals of both the men''s and women''s teamevent in the tennis team championship at the 34th NationalGames here today.

In the men''s semifinals, Delhi came from behind to beatAndhra Pradesh 2-1, while the eves cruised home with a 2-0 winover Karnataka in their last four stage encounter.

Delhi women''s team will take on Andhra Pradesh, whoblanked Maharashtra 2-0, in the title clash.

In the men''s semis, Delhi''s Vivek Shokeen lost to SureshKrishna 3-6 2-6 to give Andhra an upper-hand.

But Ashutosh Singh restored the parity with a 6-2 6-4 winover N Sai Karthik.

Singh then teamed up with Shokeen to thrash the duo ofKarthik and Syed Ali 6-2 6-2 in the doubles match and earn aplace in the final.

Delhi will face the winners from Maharashtra and TamilNadu in the men''s team final.

Meanwhile, in the women''s team semi-final, Prerna Bhambrirouted U M Shalaka 6-0 6-0 to give Delhi a 1-0 lead and thensingles champion Ratnika Batra thrashed Prerna Prathap 6-1 6-0to seal the tie in favour of her state.
