Falling in singles, Somdev sets eye on ATP doubles

By Samyuktha
Charlottesville (USA), Nov 6: In a campaign to make up for his singles' fall, Indian ace Somdev Devvarman has set his eyes on the doubles event at the ATP Challenger tournament here.

Second seed and world number 92 Somdev fell 6-7 (4), 3-6 to world number 444 Guccione in a shocking quarter-final bout. However, determined to end the tournament on the positive note, the Commonwealth Games champ with partner Treat Conrad Huey sailed into the doubles semifinals.

Somdev and Conrad took down second seed Australians Stephen Huss and Peter Luczak 7-6 (4), 4-6, 12-10 to advance into the semi-finals.

The duo will next face local pair Robert Kendrick and Donald Young aiming to grab a spot in the finals.
