Melbourne, Jan 31: Roger Federer clinched the Australian Open 2010 title at Melbourne on Sunday, Jan 31.
Federer beat Britain's Andy Murray 6-3 6-4 7-6 (13/11) to secure the 16th grand slam of his record breaking career.
Federer got the early edge over British fifth seed by taking the opening set in the final 6-3 in just 43 minutes.
Then, the top seed took a iron grip when he claimed the second set 6-4 in 46 minutes.
Murray fought hard in the third set and forced it to a tie-break which he lost 11-13.
Federer added the 2010 title to his wins at Melbourne Park in 2004, 2006 and '07, becoming only the fifth man to win four Australian titles.
