French Open 2026: Aryna Sabalenka makes fashion statement with 200-carat garnet necklace

Aryna Sabalenka made a statement both on and off the court during her opening-round victory at the 2026 French Open, stepping onto Court Philippe-Chatrier wearing a custom jewellery piece inspired by Roland Garros' iconic red clay.

The world No. 1 paired her Nike match kit with a bespoke three-strand necklace created by luxury jewellery label Material Good, adding another fashion highlight to a tournament that has already seen players such as Naomi Osaka draw attention for their on-court style.

Sabalenka cruised through her first-round match against Spain's Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, but it was her eye-catching accessories that quickly became a talking point around Roland Garros.

According to Material Good, the custom piece was specifically designed for Sabalenka's French Open appearance and featured more than 200 carats of garnets alongside 23 carats of diamonds.

The jewellery house described the design as "three bold necklaces, one striking silhouette", with the layered construction created to move naturally during competition.

The necklace drew inspiration from the famous red clay courts of Roland Garros.

"Inspired by the red clay courts of Roland Garros, rich garnets in deep crimson tones define the collection, while a dynamic mix of stone shapes creates a sense of movement that echoes Aryna's energy on court and pays homage to Material Good's signature Multi-Shapes designs," the brand said.

The Belarusian complemented the custom necklace with additional layered chains and statement stud earrings during her opening-round appearance.

Her Nike outfit featured a sleeveless design combining bold red fabric beneath a sheer black overlay, creating a colour palette that matched the garnet stones incorporated into the necklace.

The jewellery contrasted sharply against the athletic look, further underlining Sabalenka's growing reputation for bringing fashion elements onto the tennis court.

Notably absent from her accessories was the custom engagement ring designed by jeweller Isabela Grutman, which reportedly features a diamond exceeding 12 carats.

Fashion continues to take centre stage at Roland Garros

Sabalenka's appearance came on the same day fellow Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka attracted widespread attention for her Kevin Germanier-designed walk-on outfit and glittering gold Nike dress.

The fashion moments have added another layer of intrigue to the opening week in Paris, with players increasingly using Grand Slam tournaments as opportunities to showcase their personal style alongside their tennis.

For Sabalenka, however, the jewellery proved to be the perfect accessory to a successful start on court, as the top seed continued her pursuit of a maiden French Open title.
