Friendship tennis series with Pok to continue
Chandigarh, Mar 27 (UNI) The Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association and Punjab (Pakistan) Tennis Association have resolved to continue the friendship tennis series.
The visit of the senior players from Pakistan and play the friendly contest which the visitors won 4-2 is part of the process of promotion of sporting ties between the two countries.
This time, five youngsters from Pakistan have also arrived along with seniors for specialised 15-day training at the Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association Stadium in Sector 10.
The visitors today called on Punjab Governor Gen (Retd) SF Rodrigues, who is also Administrator of Chandigarh, at Raj Bhawan this morning. Iftikhar Ahmed Rao, Director General New Murree Development Authority and also senior vice-president of Pakistan Tennis Federation, Rai Zahid Zafar, secretary general of Pakistan Lawn Tennis Associaiton, Mohd Naeem Ullah, President of Lahore Tennis Association, Col (Retd) Khalid Hussain, former Davis Cupper and National coach Rashid Malik and Rana Md Ibad Khan, Tehsil Nazim -- Chunian and ex-officio member of Punjab Lawn Tennis Association were among the visitors who met the Governor this morning.
The visitors were accompanied by CLTA chairman Rajan Kashyap and secretary general M Ramsekhar and other officials of the association.
The Governor emphasised that cooperation in tennis and other sports should continue and the bonds between two countries should strength.
Rajan Kashyap said that a coaching camp for coaches would be organised in Mumbai and Chandigarh. ''The coaches from Pakistan would be invited to attend the coaching the coaches camp in May. CLTA Director Coaching Gajendra Singh will conduct the camp for coaches.'' UNI
