Bengaluru, September 9: The on court rivalry between Rafael Nadal and Kevin Anderson, who will take on each other in the US Open final on Sunday, has started way back in 1998.

Nineteen years ago, the Spaniard and the South African met in the final of an under-12 event at Stuttgart, Germany.

After turning pro in 2001 and 2007 respectively, Nadal and Anderson squared off four times and the former won on all occasions.

The US Open title clash will be their fifth in the career and all indicate to another win for Nadal but sports has its own ways.

The only other time Nadal met Anderson in a Grand Slam was in the 2015 Australian Open. Nadal won that pre-quarterfinal match with consummate ease 7-5, 6-1, 6-4.
