World No. 2 from Belarus, Aryna Sabalenka secured her second Grand Slam title of the 2024 season at the US Open 2024 after defeating Jessica Pegula by 7-5, 7-5 in straight sets on Saturday, September 7.
Interestingly, at the US Open 2023, Sabalenka made the cut for the final, but faced a defeat to the local favorite Coco Gauff in three sets. This time around, she came out all guns blazing, adding the New York championship to her impressive trophy cabinet.

Notably, she also claimed the Australian Open title earlier this year to kick off her 2024 season. With the US Open title win, Sabalenka emerged as the first woman to secure both hardcourt major titles in a single season since Angelique Kerber, who achieved this feat back in 2016.
With this title win, Sabalenka took home a whopping USD 3,600,000 from the competition's overall prize pool of USD 75,000,000. On the other hand, the home favorite and runner-up Jessica Pegula was rewarded with a total of USD 1,800,000.
Furthermore, the semi-finalists Emma Navarro and Karolina Muchova received a prize money of USD 1,000,000 each after being eliminated from the semi-finals. The quarter-finalists earned USD 530,000 each. On the other hand, the fourth round exits received USD 325,000 each.
Moreover, the players who made an exit from the third round received USD 215,000 each while the ones who exited from the second round earned USD 140,000 each. Those who suffered a knockout from the opening round bagged USD 100,000 each.
