Indians reach Asian Closed Junior Tennis semifinals

Chennai, May 20: Two Indians each in the boys and girls sections got the better off their quarterfinal opponents to reach the last four stage of the Asian Closed Junior Tennis Championship at the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu stadium here on Thursday, May 19.

In the quarterfinals, 17-year old Arjun Khade, second seed, and unseeded 14-year-old Sahil Deshmukh advanced to the semifinal.

While Khade beat compatriot Vishwesh Sinha 6-0 6-2, Deshmukh upset 10th seeded compatriot Abdullah Shaikh 6-3 6-1.

In the girls singles, 15-year-old Indian Rutuja Bhosale dispatched higher seeded Ching-Wen Hsu of Chinese Taipei 6-3 6-1, while sixth seeded Ratnika Batra beat 14th seed Bhuvana Kalva 6-2 6-4. .
