India's Sunitha Rao held tri-colour flying at ITF Women tennis

Kolkata, Nov 18 (UNI) India's Sunitha Rao blasted Alexis Prousis of US in straight sets 6-0, 6-2 to move into pre-quarter finals of the Gujarat NRE Coke 50,000 dollar ITF Women's Challenger here today.

Fifth seeded Sunitha Rao shown Alexis in 73 minutes after overcoming a 40-15 deficit in the first set but the former came strongly.

Alexis was broken in the third game also with the help of two double faults. She tried to make a comeback in fifth with a 40-15 lead. She squandered six game points before losing out. Sunitha made no mistakes in the sixth and wrapped up the set 6-0. In the second set Alexis was broken in the first, fifth and seventh. Sunitha was broken in the fourth.

Third seeded Chinese Taipei girl Chin-Wei Chan was ousted by Serbian qualifier Bojana Jovanovski 6-1, 6-2. Jovanovski was the last week's 25,000 dollar ITF Circuits semi-finalist which was held in Pune. She defeated Chuang in 81 minutes.

India's Wild Card Shiha Uberoi lost to seventh seed Ksenia Palkina of Kazakhstan 6-2, 6-3 in 80 minutes.

Top seed Melanie South of Great Britain was stretched by China's Jing-Jing Lu. South prevailed 7-5, 6-2 in 91 minutes.

Leonie Mekel also reached the pre-quarters, beating sixth seeded Liana-Gabriela Ungur of Netherlands 6-3. Ungur conceded after losing the first set 6-2 due to a shoulder injury.
