Injury forces Arthurs to miss Australia's Davis Cup tie

SYDNEY, Jan 29 (Reuters) A hip injury has forced Wayne Arthurs to withdraw from Australia's Davis Cup squad for next month's World Group first-round tie in Belgium.

Arthurs, 35, injured his hip during his third round match against American Mardy Fish at the Australian Open and was forced to retire from the match.

Arthurs has ruled himself out of the February 9-11 tie, forcing team officials to find a replacement when the squad is named on Tuesday.

Lleyton Hewitt and Chris Guccione are expected to be chosen as Australia's two singles players with Hewitt possibly teaming up with Paul Hanley in the doubles.

Teenager Brydan Klein has been invited to train with the squad after winning the Australian Open boys' singles title but is unlikely to be thrown into a live match so soon.

Tennis Australia announced last week that Darren Cahill, who coached Hewitt and Andre Agassi to the top of the rankings, had agreed to serve as Australian coach for the tie, replacing Wally Masur.

Roger Rasheed had filled in for Masur last year but withdrew from the job after quitting this month as Hewitt's personal coach.

Scott Draper coached Hewitt during the Australian Open but said he did not want the job on a permanent basis because he wants to continue his own career as a professional golfer.
