IPTL: Tickets for Roger Federer's Delhi matches sold out in 20 minutes

Roger Federer is coming to India in December
New Delhi, Nov 1: Tickets to watch Swiss superstar Roger Federer in Delhi were sold out in just 20 minutes, the organisers of International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) have announced.

Federer, who is part of Indian Aces team in IPTL, will be in Delhi from December 6 to 8. The first phase of online sale of tickets were opened yesterday (October 31) and the response was "incredible".

"Indian Aces along with International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) today announced that the official online ticketing partner BookMyShow witnessed record ticket reservations for the Delhi leg in phase 1. The first lot of tickets was sold-out within 20 minutes of the ticket sales going live at 9:00 am today on BookMyShow," IPTL said yesterday (October 31).

Indian Aces' spokesperson said, "The incredible response from sports fans in the country is a clear testament that Indians love their sport, and are geared to support the biggest names in tennis representing Micromax Indian Aces. We are very excited to bring the best tennis spectacle for sports enthusiasts in India to witness the legends of world tennis to play for Indian Aces. The three day Delhi leg of the world-class event promises to offer an outstanding experience to all audiences with tickets priced to cater to all demographics of fans in the country."

IPTL tickets for New Delhi are available for sale through the Aces' official online ticketing partner www.bookmyshow.com.

Fans can reserve their tickets with the phase 2 of the sales beginning at 12.00pm on Monday, 3 November 2014. With ticket prices ranging from Rs 3,240 to Rs 49,680, fans ranging from students to the country's glitterati will be able to witnesstop names from the world of tennis.

On behalf of IPTL, Mahesh Bhupathi said, "This is probably among the first times we've witnessed such huge demand for tennis in India. The exceptional response shows the kind of excitement there is about the IPTL. We're thrilled with the response shown by sports fans in India and are confident that it will be a show they will enjoy."

During the 3 day event (December 6, 7 and 8, 2014), at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, sports fans will get to see two matches a day, first at 4:00 pm and second match starting at 7:30 pm.

Each ticket will allow spectators to watch the 3 day action. The indoor stadium, with its 15,000 plus seating capacity, is the largest indoor sports arena in India and the third-largest in Asia.

Federer, 14-time Grand Slam Champion Pete Sampras, teammates Gael Monfils, Ana Ivanovic, Fabrice Santoro, and Indian players Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna will make up the Indian Aces squad and take on the Manila Mavericks, the UAE Royals, and the Singapore Slammers during the three day event.

Other top stars that will play in New Delhi include Novak Djokovic, Caroline Wozniacki, Eugenie Bouchard, Goran Ivanisevic, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Daniela Hantuchova, Tomas Berdych, Lleyton Hewitt, Carlos Moya, Patrick Rafter, Kirsten Flipkens, and Nenad Zimonjic.
