Isha, Ankita advance into Lagos ITF quarters

Lagos, Oct 23 (UNI) India's Isha Lakhani and Ankita Bhambri advanced into the quarterfinals of the 25,000 dollar ITF event while their compatriot Rushmi Chakravarthi bowed out of the event following her second round defeat here.

The third-seeded Isha defeated Palma Kiraly of Hungary 6-2, 6-4. Isha will clash with Belgium's Tamaryn Hendler in the quaters.

Ankita advanced to the last-eight stage when her South African opponent Surina De Beer conceded the match in the first set. The unseeded Indian was leading 5-0 at that stage. She next faces Slovakian second seed Zuzana Kucova.

However, Rushmi, lost against the sixth-seeded Israeli Julia Glushko 1-6, 6-4, 3-6.

In the doubles event, third-seeded Bhambri sisters -- Ankita and Sanaa -- beats South African Lisa Marshall and Italian Vivienne Vierin 6-4, 6-3 to move into the semi-finals.
