ITF W35 Tumakuru Open: Top Seeds Sail Through To Quarterfinals

All the leading seeds moved into the singles quarter-finals at the ITF W35 Tumakuru Open. The matches took place at the Tumakuru District Tennis Courts on Thursday. Top seed Justina Mikulskyte, and seeds two to four, all progressed. Several Indians also stayed in contention across singles and doubles draws.

Justina Mikulskyte came through a difficult early spell against Zuzanna Kolonus of Poland. The Lithuanian lost the first set 0-6. Justina Mikulskyte then settled and won 6-3, 6-1. Second seed Zuzanna Pawlikowska also advanced in straight sets against India’s Sonal Patil.

Seeds into Quarters at ITF W35 Tumakuru

Third seed Vaidehee Chaudhari delivered a controlled win over Madhurima Sawant. Vaidehee Chaudhari took the match 6-2, 6-2. Fourth seed Zeel Desai joined Vaidehee Chaudhari in the quarter-finals. Zeel Desai beat Jennifer Luikham 6-2, 6-3. The results kept Indian interest strong in the last eight.

Zeel Desai had to respond after a quiet start in the opening set. Zeel Desai trailed 0-2 before taking charge. The change came through firmer baseline hitting and fewer errors. Zeel Desai then built a steady lead in both sets. The win placed Zeel Desai among the final eight singles players.

Russia’s Ksenia Laskutova earned a two-set win over Sandeepti Singh Rao of India. The match lasted more than two hours. Sixth seed Ekaterina Yashina also went through. Kashish Bhatia retired with a right shoulder injury. Fifth seed Elina Nepliy reached the quarter-finals with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Laxmisiri Dandu.

With the top five seeds all still active, the weekend schedule looked strong. They were joined by in-form unseeded players. The remaining rounds were set to feature several close contests. Organisers now had a full quarter-final lineup, following a busy day across both main draws at the venue.

ITF W35 Tumakuru Open doubles: Indians and seeds reach semi-finals

In doubles, Sravya Shivani Chilakalapudi and Zeel Desai moved into the semi-finals. The Indian pair beat Laxmisiri Dandu and Chevika Reddy Sama 6-4, 6-3. Akanksha Dileep Nitture and Michika Ozeki also advanced. The Indo-Japanese pair recovered after losing the first set.

Akanksha Dileep Nitture and Michika Ozeki beat Diva Bhatia and Jennifer Luikham in a match tie-break. Top seeds Vaidehee Chaudhari and Zuzanna Pawlikowska also made the last four. They defeated Soha Sadiq and Madhurima Sawant. Ksenia Laskutova and Elina Nepliy completed the semi-final lineup with a straight-sets win.
