Jannik Sinner made tennis history on Sunday by becoming the first Italian to win three Grand Slam singles titles. The World No. 1 successfully defended his Australian Open men's singles title, defeating second seed Alexander Zverev 6-3, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 in a dominant final at Rod Laver Arena.
Sinner, who has now claimed three consecutive hard-court Grand Slam titles, showcased his brilliance from the baseline and his resilience under pressure. Zverev, struggling with 45 unforced errors, failed to capitalize on any opportunities to break Sinner's serve throughout the match.

Despite Zverev's occasional moments of brilliance, such as in the second set when he nearly took a lead, Sinner remained untouchable. From the outset, Sinner was in control. The first set saw Zverev face numerous break points, with Sinner eventually taking advantage of the German's vulnerability on serve.
The second set was more competitive, but Sinner remained composed under pressure. At 4-4 in the tiebreaker, he won three straight points to close out the set. The third set was equally impressive, with Sinner breaking Zverev twice to seal the victory in just under three hours.
"I know a part of the team is at home and my family, but it is amazing to share these feelings with you," said Sinner in his post-match speech, acknowledging the support of his team. His triumph not only solidified his dominance in the sport but also cemented his place as the eighth player in the Open Era to win his first three Grand Slam finals.
Sinner's victory marked his second consecutive Australian Open title and extended his unbeaten streak to 21 matches. His win followed a remarkable run at the US Open, where he also claimed the title.
Since becoming World No. 1 last June, Sinner has maintained his top ranking, continuing to break records and dominate his opponents on hard courts. However, Sinner's rise to the top has not been without controversy. He recently faced a doping case after testing positive for a trace amount of an anabolic steroid.
However, the matter has since been cleared. Sinner, who now holds a 3-0 record in Grand Slam finals, will next look to challenge for more titles, including at Roland Garros and Wimbledon, as he seeks to add further accolades to his growing legacy.
