Paris, Feb 12: For Belgium's Kim Clijsters, the clock has turned full circle, as she is all set to regain her World No.1 title next week. on Feb 11, she beat Jelena Dokic 6-3 6-0 to reach the Paris Open semifinals and thus regain the top slot for the first time since 2006.
When she was handed a huge number 1 made out of flowers from tournament director and retired tennis rival Amelie Mauresmo, a visibly happy Clijsters, told to the crowd, "I'll try in French...I'm very happy to be number one again."
She added, "Thanks for all your support and I hope I can also win the tournament maybe. It's a nice feeling but it doesn't change anything for me personally."
Clijsters, who won her maiden Australian Open title in Jan 2011, has been world number one three times before, twice in 2003 and once in 2006.
