Kittipong, Nanuli winners at ITF open
Kolkata, Jan 20 (UNI) Kittipong Wachiramanowong of Thailand and Nanuli Pipirya of Russia won the Boys' and Girls' Singles title respectively at the ONGC-ITF Juniors 2007 at the DKS Sports Complex here today.
The boys' doubles title went to Uzbekistan's Rifat Biktyakov and Timur Kamilov, the top seeds.
Eighth seeded Thai player Kittipong Wachiramanowong took the Boys' Singles crown beating seventh seed Jeong-Han Seo of Korea, in 83 minutes 6-1,6-4 in 83 minutes.
Seo could manage to hold on to the first game but lost the next three of his serves in the third, fifth and seventh games. In the second set Wachiramanowong started with a double fault, the lone double fault in the whole match.
The first four games went against serves. Wachiramanowong lost his serve in the first and third games and broke Seo in the second and fourth games.
The next break happened in the tenth game as Wachiramanowong broke Seo again to take the match.
Unseeded Nanuli Pipiya of Russia won the Girls' Singles title defeating third seed Moroccan Nadia Lalami in 75 minutes 6-2,6-3.
Appearing in her first finals, Nadia committed a lot of unforced errors.
Pipiya broke Lalami in the fourth and eighth games. Lalami proved weak in the service and volley. She served six double faults and one ace. In the second set Lalami broke Pipiya in the third but lost advantage in the next. Again in the eighth game Lalami was broken.
In the ninth Pipiya failed to convert three match points before winning the set 6-3.
In this set Lalami served one double fault and one ace while Pipiya served three double faults and one ace.
