For a change Kyrgios is in the news for a good reason!

Australia will bid for a place in the final for the first time since 2003.

Bengaluru, September 6: After being in the news for all wrong reasons, for a change Nick Kyrgios has got it right finally.

The bad boy of Australian tennis has been picked to lead his country in the crucial Davis Cup semifinal against Belgium to be held in Brussels' indoor clay from September 15 to 17.

The 22-year-old was recently in spotlight for his tantrums after the first-round exit at US Open, but captain Lleyton Hewitt included him along with Thanasi Kokkinakis, Jordan Thompson and John Peers though Bernard Tomic was overlooked after his rapid slide down the ATP rankings.

"We've been working towards this moment all year, and the whole team has made Davis Cup a priority in their schedules. They've all had it at the back of their minds and we are so close now," said Hewitt as Australia will bid for a place in the final for the first time since 2003.

A win over Belgium would see it host the Davis Cup final at home in late November against the winner of France and Serbia.

While the Davis Cup call-up was a welcome relief for Kyrgios, it must certainly have been a bitter pill to swallow for Tomic. Tomic, now ranked 146 after reaching a career high of 17 at the start of 2016, skipped the quarter-final against the United States in Brisbane in April during a rough run of results.

His spiral has only continued since Wimbledon where he admitted he felt "bored" playing tennis.

Going by his current slimp, he might even need a wild card entry from the organisers in his home Grand Slam in Melbourne next year.
