Let's take a closer look at this year's squad and their past performances in the Laver Cup.

Performance of Team World Over the Years

In the early years of the Laver Cup, Team World found themselves outmatched by Team Europe's lineup of tennis heavyweights. Despite strong performances, they couldn't quite clinch the title, losing the first four editions between 2017 and 2021. Led by John McEnroe throughout, Team World often found themselves on the back foot, especially against the likes of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic, who spearheaded Team Europe's dominance.

Team World's perseverance finally paid off in 2022. With the likes of Frances Tiafoe and Felix Auger-Aliassime leading the charge, Team World secured their first-ever Laver Cup victory, defeating Team Europe 13-8 in London. This victory broke Europe's four-year stranglehold and signaled the rise of a new force in the Laver Cup.

Riding the momentum from 2022, Team World followed up with another impressive performance in Vancouver. This time, they won 13-7. As the Laver Cup returns in 2024, Team World enters the tournament with confidence. Powered by Taylor Fritz, who recently captured a bronze medal in men's doubles at the Paris 2024 Olympics, they have the firepower to defend their title for a third consecutive year. Fritz's aggressive baseline game and growing experience in big matches will be crucial to Team World's success.

Under the guidance of John McEnroe, who will be making his final appearance, this squad has the potential to make history once again.
