Mahesh Bhupati on Wednesday (October 23) lashed out at AITA secretary Anil Dhupar for 'butchering' Indian tennis players on a public platform. The tennis legend jolted down seven points in his Instagram post while demanding the retirement of Dhupar.
The Indian tennis legend took into note AITA secretary Anil Dhupar's recent interview on YouTube Channel 'Kuk Speaks, podcasts & interviews' in which he openly criticised Sumit Nagal and former India's number one singles player Somdev Devvarman.

Bhupati reiterated that Nagal did not feature in India's Davis Cup tie against Sweden because of an injury, and also defended Somdev by questioning the credentials and administrative capabilities of Dhupar.
"I Apologize to the folks who are going to take the time to watch this . ( LINK IN BIO ) This is the Secretary General of the @aitatennis_official butchering Indian tennis players on a public platform . Once you see this you can decide for yourself self if he is a compulsive Liar or just plain Vanilla clueless," Mahesh Bhupati wrote on Instagram.
What followed was seven brutal points to expose Anil Dhupar's inefficiency and lack of knowledge about the tennis ecosystem in India. Here is what the 12-time Grand Slam champion wrote in his seven points.
1. @sdevvarman has not done anything for India while He in turn has won the Vikram award .
Comical 2. @nagalsumit once again DID NOT compete the week after Davis cup . He was injured. He played a tournament over 10 days after the tie finished.
3. India is not playing Bulgaria in Davis cup next sir. We are playing TOGO.
4. Ashutosh didn't do a great job in Spain sir , he did a great job in Sweden.
5. You are right players and coaches come and go but you have been a constant since I made my debut 30 year ago. That is the main issue. Please retire since you still clearly don't know what's going on with Indian tennis
6. Shame on @aitatennis_official for allowing him to go on a public platform and butcher his own players by blatantly lying. It's time the executive committee makes a statement and honestly if they choose not to it's apparent they support this hogwash.
7. Hope it makes sense now why change is needed and even if it's done it's going to take years to repair the damage done. Courts are not the right place to solve this since every individual executive member has their own agenda. In the new year post Diwali I suggest The incoming PRESIDENT and @sdevvarman sit along with their lawyers and draw up a plan on the best way forward for Indian tennis and submit a plan and rebuild. Don't miss my final pic . He is not lying about the fact that he visits the Davis cup locker room.
In September, Somdev Devvarman and d ex-doubles specialist Purav Raja dragged the AITA to the court for Sports Code violations. While the court did not stay withhold the elections, it issued an order according to which, "The Election shall remain subject to the outcome of the instant writ petition. Let the result of the Election be placed in a sealed cover by the Election Officer, meaning thereby, the result of the Election shall not be published." The matter will next be heard on November 25.
