Nadal ends dry spell, wins Monte Carlo Masters

Monte Carlo, Apr 19: After a 11-month losing streak, Rafael Nadal thrashed compatriot Fernando Verdasco 6-0, 6-1 to win the the Monte Carlo Masters title.

The world number three Spaniard powered past his rival to sixth straight championship at Monte Carlo.

Besides becoming the only player to win six consecutive titles at the same tournament in the post-1968 Open era, Nadal ended his dry spell by clinching his first title after his victory at the Rome Masters in May 2009.

“It was emotional for me today; it was my best week for a long time," Nadal is quoted as saying in media reports.

Over the past months, Nadal had to battle knee and abdominal problem to return back to shape and reclaim the clay-court supremacy.
