Nadal to face World No. 1 Djokovic in Rogers Cup semis

Bangalore, Aug 10: The defending champion and current world no. 1 in the ATP rankings Novak Djokovic will face fourth seed Rafael Nadal in the semifinals of the Rogers Cup on Saturday.

The top-seeded Djokovic defeated seventh-seeded Richard Gasquet 6-2, 6-1 in 51 minutes to reach the semi-finals of the $3.4-million Rogers Cup Canadian Open men's tennis championships.

Meanwhile Nadal eliminated Australian counterpart Marinko Matosevic 6-2, 6-4 in 79 minutes and will be facing the world no.1 Djokovic in his next semifinal match.

After a first round defeat against world no. 135 Steve Darcis in the Wimbledon last month, Nadal making his come back to give his full commitment to the Saturday's semifinal.

It will be the other semifinal clash between the two Canadian's Milos Raonic and Vasek Pospisil that will take most attention in the home fans.

Raonic, the 11th seed and top Canadian defeated Latvian Ernests Gulbis 7-6 (7-3), 4-6, 6-4 and the unseeded Canadian Pospisil, a wild card entry who came straight from a Challenger title in his native Vancouver, needed only three games and 20 minutes when Russian veteran Nikolay Davydenko retired trailing 3-0 due to breathing difficulties from bronchitis.
