By MyKhel Team

In the culmination of the 2023 ATP season, tennis maestro Novak Djokovic secured the year-end No. 1 spot for an unprecedented eighth time, further solidifying his status as a legend in the sport.

The 36-year-old Serbian claimed victory in three out of the four Grand Slam tournaments, triumphing at the Australian Open, the French Open, and the US Open, bringing his total Grand Slam count to a men's-record 24 titles.

Although he finished as the runner-up at Wimbledon, Djokovic's exceptional performance throughout the season culminated in a gripping win at the ATP Finals in Turin against Carlos Alcaraz.

Djokovic's remarkable achievement includes starting his historic 400th week atop the ATP Rankings, surpassing the 300-week mark, a feat only previously achieved by Roger Federer. With 15 year-end Top 3 finishes, Djokovic now ties with Federer in that category. His reign at the top is set to continue until at least the week of January 22.

In a notable shift in the tennis landscape, 20-year-old Carlos Alcaraz secured a year-end Top 2 finish for the second consecutive year, showcasing the rising talent in the sport. Holger Rune, another 20-year-old, concluded the season at No. 8, marking the first instance since 2000 that two players aged 20 or younger finished the year in the Top 10.

Other key players in the rankings included Daniil Medvedev at No. 3, Jannik Sinner reaching a career-high No. 4 with a maiden ATP Masters 1000 trophy in Toronto, and Andrey Rublev securing a Top 5 finish after clinching the ATP Masters 1000 title in Monte-Carlo.

Stefanos Tsitsipas extended his impressive streak with a fifth consecutive year-end Top 10 finish, while Alexander Zverev made a notable return to the Top 10 after overcoming a debilitating ankle injury in June 2022.

Polish player Hubert Hurkacz closed the season in the year-end Top 10 for a third consecutive year, leading the Tour in aces with an impressive count of 1,031.

Looking ahead, the 2024 ATP Tour season is set to commence on December 29 with the United Cup, featuring 18 countries and taking place across Australia in Perth and Sydney.
