Seventh seed Novak Djokovic will look to get one step closer to breaking the record for most Grand Slams won when he faces second seed Alexander Zverev in the first men's singles semi-final in the Australian Open 2025 at the Rod Laver Arena on Friday (January 24).
Djokovic, who has won the year's first Grand Slam 10 times in his career, battled past one of the favourites heading into the tournament in the form of Spain's third seed Carlos Alcaraz in the quarter-final to book his last four spot.

The Serb dropped the first set against the Spaniard, but won three in a row to seal the match. During his run to the semi-final, Djokovic also bounce back from a set down against wildcard entry Nishesh Basavareddy of USA in the first round.
While the 24-time Grand Slam champion registered straight sets wins against Czechia's Tomas Mahac and Jiri Lehecka, Djokovic was pushed into the fourth set by Portugal's qualifier Jaime Faria in the second round.
Zverev, on the other hand, saw off twelfth seed Tommy Paul of the United States in the other last eight match to reach the men's singles semi-final. The German won in four sets, but was made to work hard in the quarter-final by the American.
Earlier, Zverev eased to straight sets wins over wild card entry Lucas Pouille of France, Pedro Martínez of Spain and Jacob Fearnley of Great Britain before facing a test against French fourteenth seed Ugo Humbert.
Before Djokovic and Zverev face off in the last four at the Melbourne Park, here is a look at their head-to-head record, results followed by their grand slam numbers and the telecast details for their match:
Djokovic holds an 8-4 record against Zverev with the Serb having won all their three meetings at a Grand Slam event, including one long contest in Melbourne in 2021. Zverev, however, has caused heartache to Djokovic in the past, notably at the Tokyo Olympics semifinal in 2021.

Djokovic, a ten-time Australian Open champion, has won a singles major 24 times. His achievements is stuff of legends as he beat off his near rivals Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer to lead the crown for most grand slam titles by a men's tennis player.
Zverev, meanwhile, has never won a Grand Slam title, be it in singles or doubles. In fact, the German has reached only as far as the final of a Grand Slam event only twice. But he can better that by reaching his first ever final in Melbourne when he takes court on Friday (January 24).
