Rafael Nadal blasted the media when questioned about whether it was the last game of his career after a defeat in the Olympics 2024 on Monday (July 29).
The legendary tennis player succumbed to a defeat in the 2nd Round of the Paris Olympics. He lost against Serbian star Novak Djokovic 6-1, 6-4 and the defeat heightened his retirement speculations.

When a media person asked Nadal if it was his swansong, the Spanish star got bemused and blasted with his reply.
"I know when I'm going to retire and I am not going to tell you what happens every day. I repeat the same thing again. I don't know, I can't be analyzing every day if it's going to be my last game. When it ends here I will decide. I think I have earned the right to decide my last game and finish on my own terms," Nadal replied to his retirement questions.
Nadal also cited two difficult years that he endured due to many injuries. The veteran confirmed that he will try to improve and will make decisions on retirement if he fails to achieve that.
"After two very difficult years with many problems, it gives me time to try to see if I will be able to improve. If I am not able to, then I will decide, but I can't live with it every day. I try to answer every day, it seems you want me to retire every day. Let's see what happens and give us a little more time," Nadal concluded.
The 38-year-old won Gold medal in singles in the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and also won a Gold medal in doubles in the Rio Olympics in 2016.
