Olympics 2024: When Will Rohan Bopanna-Sriram Balaji Play Their Match After Rain in Paris Postpones Opener?

India's Rohan Bopanna and N Sriram Balaji's men's doubles opener was one among the several tennis matches on the opening day of Olympics 2024 affected by persistent rains in Paris.

Bopanna-Balaji duo were scheduled to face French pair Eduoard Roger-Vasselin and Gael Monfilis in their opening round tie. But rain that fell throughout the opening ceremony continued on Saturday (July 27), leading to postponements and delays at the Paris Olympics.

The start of play in the scheduled tennis matches on the 10 smaller courts at Roland Garros was delayed because of rain, but action was able to get going in the two main stadiums, which both have retractable roofs.

However, Bopanna and Balaji's men's doubles opener against the French pair fell victim to the rains as their match was scheduled to be played on Court 12, one of the 10 outside courts. Now, their match has been postponed.

The match is scheduled to take place on Sunday (July 28) on Court 7, where India's singles player Sumit Nagal will open the day's proceedings against a French opponent in Corentin Moutet.

The Indian duo's men's doubles opener at Paris Olympics 2024 is scheduled as the 6th match in the order of play on Court 7. Nagal's match if there is no rain delay will start at 3:30 PM IST. So, Bopanna-Balaji match should start some time after 8:30 PM IST.

Will rain play spoilsport again in Paris Olympics 2024 on July 28?

According to AccuWeather, there is forecast for sunny to partly cloudy, warmer and less humid day as the weather aggregator advices spectators to have their sunglasses handy as Sunday (July 28) could be a great day to be outside.

So, the matches on the outside cours should go on without any delay or cancellation unlike the opening day of the competition in Paris as there is no forecast for rain throughout the second day.

Also to be noted, Bopanna and Balaji were originally slated to face Roger-Vasselin and Fabien Reboul, but the latter's withdrawal has led to Monfilis being named as the replacement for the French doubles team.
