Paris, Oct 30: Leander Paes and his Czech partner Martin Damm squandered a first set lead against South African-Netherland pair of Jeff Coetzee and Rogier Wassen to crash out of the first round match of the BNP Paribas Masters tournament.
The Indo-Czech pair took the game in the tie breaker but unable to hold on to their nerves, went down fighting 6-3 6-7(5) 9-11 in the Euro 2,082,500 event.
The duo of Paes and Damm started the proceeding's well but then they lost the plot. The Indo-Czech duo had 15 aces to their name as opposed to four by their opponent.
The pair also won 53 per cent of total match points. But were undone by second serve points which was 57 per cent as opposed to 65 per cent of their opponents.
Interestingly, Paes and Damm were also unable to set the stage on fire in the Madrid Masters crashing out in the second round against the Australian pair of Jordan Kerr and Todd Perry. The Indo-Czech pair got a bye in the first round.
