Paes-Damm pair crashes out in semis at Sydney International

Sydney, Jan 12 (UNI) Reigning US Open champion duo of Leander Paes and Martin Damm came a cropper against second seeds Mark Knowles and Daniel Nestor and the four seeded Indo-Czech pair crashed out of Sydney International with a straight set defeat in the semifinals here today.

It was a tame surrender by the Paes-Damm duo who were thoroughly outplayed by their superior rivals who won the match 6-2, 6-3.

The Knowles-Nestor pair thus avenged their loss last week to the Paes-Damm duo in the semifinals at Doha.

In the final, the victorious duo, chasing a 38th career team title, will play third seeds Paul Hanley and Kevin Ullyett, who defeated Polish duo Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski 6-2, 7-6(4).
