Paes, already in the doubles quarterfinals with his partner Czech Lukas Dlouhy, teamed up with Zimbabwean Cara Black to move into to the mixed doubles' semifinals. Paes and Black, seeded fifth, overpowered the Czech pair of Martin Damm and Vladimira Uhlirova 7-5 6-2. The winners will face Swedish-Russian pair of Jonas Bjorkman and Nadia Petrova in the semis. Meanwhile, Bhupathi, who earlier lost in the first round of the mixed doubles competition, also went out of the doubles in the third-round.
The fourth seeded pair of Bhupathi and Mark Knowles, squandered a set's advantage and lost 6-2, 4-6, 4-6 to unseeded Argentines Maximo Gonzalez and Juan Monaco.
In the junior section Delhi based Yuki Bhambri and Serbian partner Filip Krajinovic lost to Takanyi Garanganga and Egy (Zimbabwe) 1-6,6-5,7-10.
