Paes, Bhupathi enter US Open doubles semi-finals

New York, Sep.9 (ANI): Indian tennis stars Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi are hoping to compete against each other in the doubles finals of the US OPen at Flushing Meadow after entering the semi-finals on Tuesday.

Mahesh Bhupathi and his partner Mark Knowles of Bahamas outwitted Croatian Ivan Ljubicic and Frenchman Michael Llodra in the men's doubles quarter final at US Open in New York on Tuesday.

Bhupathi and Knowles could face Leander Paes and his Czech partner Lukas Dloughy.

Paes and Dloughy, seeded fourth, beat seventh seeded Wesley Moodie of South Africa and Dick Norman of Belgium 6-3, 5-7, 6-4.

The Paes-Dloughy pair will now meet top seeded Bob and Mike Bryan of United States in the semi-finals.

Paes and Zimbabwean Cara Black have booked their birth in the mixed doubles final of the US Open by beating the fifth seeded pair of Hsieh Su-wei, Taiwan, and Kevin Ullyett, Zimbabwe, in the semi-finals 6-2, 3-6, 10-5. (ANI)
