Pakistan Player Disrespects Indian Opponent with Petty Handshake Snub in Davis Cup, Shocking Video goes Viral

By MyKhel Staff

After the Operation Sindoor and subsequent tensions between India and Pakistan, the relationship has become further strained between the two neighbouring countries.

After the border tensions, the sporting relationship has also taken a toll, with India and Pakistan avoiding each other in many tournaments. Javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem didn't take part in the recent event which was graced by Neeraj Chopra, while cricket assignments are likely to get affected by it.

india pakistan controversy

Amid this, in a regrettable display of unsportsmanlike conduct, a Pakistani player marred the conclusion of the Junior Davis Cup U16 match between India and Pakistan held on May 24.

A video has surfaced online which showed the unprofessional and low-like behaviour of a Pakistani tennis player, whose approach to his Indian counterpart after a defeat has shocked many.

After India's decisive 2-0 victory, a video surfaced showing the Pakistani player engaging in a disrespectful handshake with his Indian counterpart. Initially missing the handshake, he then made contact only to abruptly withdraw in a manner that conveyed clear disdain.

Such behaviour is antithetical to the principles of sportsmanship and respect that are foundational to international competition. The Indian player's composure in the face of this provocation is commendable and exemplifies true athletic professionalism, which the Pakistani grossly lacked.

This incident has sparked widespread criticism and highlights the need for sports authorities to address and rectify such conduct. Although the two nations are in a conflict, the kind of behaviour, especially after losing, have left Pakistan's name in further slump.
