Qualifying rounds begin for 2nd Asian junior tennis

Kolkata, Oct 11 (UNI) As the preliminary rounds for 2nd Asian 14 and under Tennis championship began here today, big names in the junior level were qualified for main draw to be played from Monday.

In the boys' singles 14 years&under Siddhant Deka, Madhurjya Dutta, S.D. Prajwal Dev and Sumit Nagal have qualified.

Siddhant Deka defeated M S Rakshith 6-1,7-5, Madhurjya Dutta beat Ayush Poddar 6-1,6-0, S D Prajwal downed Udhav Gupta 6-0, 6-2 and the last remaining local lad Yuvraj Bains got whitewashed by Sumit Nagal 0-6,0-6.

Riya Bhatia, Devangshi Bhimjyani, Deepika Senthil Kumaran and Protiksha Sharma qualified for the main draw in the Girls' Singles.

Assam girl Protiksha Sharma defeated local Trisha Ghosh 6-0,6-3.

Boys' singles in 1st Qualifying Round (India unless specified) M S Rakshith beat Ritwick Dutta 6-1,5-2 (Conc.), Ayush Poddar beat Mudit Kedia 6-0,0-6,6-2, Udhav Gupta beat Harsh Bondia 6-3,6-0, Yuvraj Bains beat Akhilesh Agarwal 7-6(7-5),6-4.

Boys' Singles 14 years&under Final Qualifying Round (India unless specified) : Sidhant Deka (1) beat M.S. Rakshith 6-1,7-5, Madhurjya Dutta beat Ayush Poddar 6-1,6-0, S D Prajwal Dev beat Udhav Gupta 6-0,6-2, Sumit Nagal beat Yuvraj Bains 6-0,6-0.

Girls' Singles final qualifying round (India unless specified) : Protiksha Sharma beat Trisha Ghosh 6-0,6-3.
