Veteran Rohan Bopanna and rising star Sumit Nagal will be among the Indian tennis players competing in the US Open 2024 with the main draw scheduled to start from Monday (August 27) at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens, New York, USA.
The 144th edition of US Open, which started with the qualifying round last week, will continue in the main draw this week, starting with action in the men's and women's singles evente before the doubles action begins in a couple of days.

Like the previous Grand Slam or major tennis tournaments this year, several Indians will be competing across the men's singles and doubles competitions over the next two weeks in New York.
In men's singles, Nagal will be the lone competitor, who will complete a quartet of Grand Slam tournament participations in 2024, having played in the main draw of Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon earlier this year.
Nagal becomes the first Indian male tennis player since 2019 to compete in the singles event of all four Grand Slam tournaments in a year. Prajnesh Gunneswaran in 2019 was the last Indian man to achieve the feat.
The world number 72 and the top Indian men's singles player Nagal had reached the second round at the Australian Open before crashing out of the first rounds in the French Open and Wimbledon earlier this year. He also crashed out of the first round in Paris Olympics 2024.
In men's doubles, Australian Open 2024 champion, Rohan Bopanna and his Australian partner Matthew Ebden enter their fourth Grand Slam tournament of the year as the second seeds.
The Indo-Australian pair, who reached the semi-final in French Open before making a second-round exit in Roland Garros, had reached the final of the US Open last year, when they lost to the American-British pair of Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury.
Apart from Bopanna, Nagal also will be in men's doubles action, playing alongside Japan's Yoshihito Nishioka. Yuki Bhambri and N Sriram Balaji also will be playing alongside their respective partners France's Albano Olivetti and Argentina's Guido Andreozzi.
