Bengaluru, Nov 20: India's Rutuja Bhosale, who recently secured a gold medal for at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou in China, held the top seed position among Indian players at the Bowring Institute ITF Women's World Tennis Tour.
The 27-year-old, now tagged as the third seed, is set to commence her pursuit of victory in the US $25,000 prize money event starting Tuesday (November 21). Her first match will be against fellow Indian Smriti Bhasin as the main rounds kick off at the Bowring Institute tennis courts on Tuesday.

Vaidehi Chaudhari, the only other Indian in the top eight seeds, is positioned as the fourth seed and will face wildcard entrant Anjal Rathi in her opening match. The tournament is led by Uzbekistan's Nigina Abduraimova, who will face Ekaterina Yashina in the first round. Thailand's Lanlana Tararudee is the second seed and will compete against India's wildcard entrant Sharmada Balu.
In the qualifying rounds, all eight spots were claimed by Indian players, with three seeded players exiting the competition. Notably, 11th seed Kundali Majgaine caused the biggest upset by defeating top seed Sandeepti Singh Rao 6-3, 2-6, 10-6.
Sonal Patil continued her impressive run by defeating second seed Sravya Shivani in straight sets 6-4, 6-2, securing her place in the main round. Pooja Ingale also caused an upset by overcoming the fifth seed Soha Sadiq 6-3, 7-5.
