Sania faces another case for insulting flag

By Staff
Hyderabad, Jan 9: Tennis idol Sania Mirza, who recently escaped trouble for shooting an advertisement near the Mecca mosque in the city, is once again in the news for the wrong reasons.

A criminal case has been filed in the third additional munsif magistrate"s court of Tirupati against the Hyderabad girl for showing disrespect to the national flag. An advocate filed a case in a Tirupati court, alleging that the player showed disrespect to the tricolour during the recent Hopman Cup series in Australia. Ramesh, an advocate of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, submitted to the court some photographs published in newspapers, which showed Sania putting her feet in front of the tricolour.

The petitioner sought action against Sania under the Prevention of Insult to the National Honour Act of 1971.

Last week, a case was filed in a Bhopal court against the player and Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Mani Shankar Aiyar for allegedly disrespecting the national flag.
