Sania for World Universities Tennis?

Hyderabad, June 8 (UNI) All India Universities (AIU) is hoping to rope in ''Hyderabadi Pearl'' Sania Mirza to represent India in the World Universities Sports meet.

AIU member secretary Professor Gurdeep Singh, who is here to address a seminar organised at the Nizam College on ''Modern Trends and Technologies in Physical Education and Sports'' told UNI, 'We are trying to rope in Sania Mirza to represent India in the World Universities meet at Bangkok from August 8-18.'' ''Her participation would definitely enhance India's chances of winning gold medal and bring glamour to the meet. 'This year AIU will send teams in acquatics, athletics, badminton, shooting and tennis for this world meet,' he added.

Selected Indian teams will be trained at Punjab, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Delhi where modern sports facilities are available, he said, adding ''We will send Indian teams regularly for the world universities meets.'' The selection criteria was open on all India basis. Preference would be given to the winners from All India Universities Sports meet, he added.
