Sania receives doubles' blow

Paris, Jun 1 (UNI) Sania Mirza's shortcomings on the clay surface were once again exposed when she made an early exit from the women's doubles event shortly after crashing out of the singles at the French Open here.

The Indo-Czech pair was nowhere in the match surrendering 1-6 2-6 to the top seeded American-Aussie duo of Lisa Raymond and Samantha Stosur in just about an hour in a late night match at Roland Garros yesterday.

Earlier, Sania lost her singles second round match against seventh seed Anna Ivanovic of Serbia.

The Hyderabadi girl's all hopes now rest on the mixed doubles competition where she pairs with Frenchman Fabrice Santoro to take on the German pair of Anna-Lena Groenefeld and Alexander Waske.
