Sania sails into Pattaya Open semis

Pattaya, Thailand, Feb 9 (UNI) Sania Mirza upset third seed Mara Santangelo 6-4, 7-6 to advance into the semifinals of the 170,000 dollar Pattaya Open tennis tournament here today.

The Indian will now take on Gisela Dulko of Argentina in the last eight.

The fifth seeded Indian hardly gave a chance to Santangelo and clinched the first set with relative case before having to endure a tough second.

The Italian came back strongly after losing the opener but Sania did not let the momentum slip and pocketed the set and the match to advance into the next round.
