Sania wishes good luck to team India
Hyderabad, Mar 16 (UNI) Indian Tennis star Sania Mirza, who is recovering from a knee injury, might be rueing her badluck but wished goodluck to Team India to do well at World Cup in West Indies.
India is face Bangladesh tomorrow in their first match in Group-B.
Sania who just started training with light weights couple of days ago, told ''UNI'' said, ''My good wishes are with Indian team. They must play aggressivly and tension-free to register good wins. These wins will definitely boost team India's confidence level to put up better show in the Super-eight category. I hope they will reach the semi-finals and final from there on.'' ''When India won the only World Cup in 1983 I was not even born, but I heard the heroics of our great players from my parents and friends. I hope the present team under Rahul Dravid will repeat the same,'' she said.
Sania's right knee was recently injured while she was playing in the Qatar Open tennis tournament at Doha. She then rushed to the city's Apollo Hospitals where she underwent various tests, including MRI scan. The doctors after finding out the injury to Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) on her right knee, advised her to take couple of weeks rest and then start training.
Sania is hopeful of coming on to international circuit after taking rest for a month or so. ''I may participate in the WTA circuit only after the third week of April. But before that, I have to recover fully, for which I just started working on with weights training in the Gym under the supervison of experts,'' she said.
Meanwhile PR Mansingh the victorious manager of 1983 World Cup winning squad advised Team India to play tension-free. Talking to ''UNI'' he said, ''Unless they play with ease they cannot move further closer to their target. I advise them to be calm and tension-free before and during the match. He too wished good luck to Team India.'' UNI
