Melbourne, Nov 27: Serena William's vile meltdown in the US open may cost the tennis ace more than just a dent in her image as the authorities are reportedly mulling a record-breaking fine of one million dollar dollars.

Quoting industry sources, Fox News reports that the International Tennis Federation's Grand Slam committee was close to reaching consensus on the Williams case.

The world number one has been cited under the sport's code of conduct for allegedly threatening to kill the lineswoman and saying "If I could. I would take this f---ing ball and shove it down your f---ing throat."

The news report claims that the one million dollar fine could be levied along with a good behaviour bond. Apart from this, Serena could also be facing a suspension from Australian Open scheduled to take place in Jan 2010.

Based on the submissions from Williams and the officials directly involved on the day.and other evidences, the ITF Grand Slam administrator Bill Babcock has wound up the investigation into the incident.

Four members of the grand slam committee including Geoff Pollard (Australian Open), Jean Gachassin (French), Tim Phillips (Wimbledon) and Lucy Garvin (US) are expected to discuss the findings on Saturday, Nov 28, in the London's O2 Arena where the year-end ATP World Tour finals is taking place.
