Sorribes And Bucsa Secure Bronze In Women's Doubles Tennis At Paris Olympics

Cristina Bucsa and Sara Sorribes Tormo won bronze in women's doubles at the Paris Olympics, beating Karolina Muchova and Linda Noskova of the Czech Republic.

Cristina Bucsa and Sara Sorribes Tormo secured bronze in the women's doubles at the Paris Olympics. They defeated the Czech Republic's Karolina Muchova and Linda Noskova in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, at Roland-Garros. The match lasted an hour and 13 minutes.

The Spaniards set the tone early by breaking their opponents' serve in the first game. Although Muchova and Noskova improved, Bucsa and Sorribes found another break to lead 5-2, easily winning the first set. The Czechs missed two chances to take the opening game of the second set, allowing their opponents to break serve again and race into a 3-0 lead.

Bronze for Sorribes & Bucsa in Doubles

From that point on, Bucsa and Sorribes maintained their momentum, winning the final three games consecutively. This victory marked Spain's first tennis medal of the day. Carlos Alcaraz was also competing against Novak Djokovic in the men's singles final.

The women's doubles gold medal match will feature Italy's Jasmine Paolini and Sara Errani against Mirra Andreeva and Diana Shnaider, who are competing as Individual Neutral Athletes.

Bucsa and Sorribes ensured double delight for Spain in Paris with Alcaraz guaranteed to bring home a medal. In this one-sided match, they converted five of nine break points while winning seven service games compared to the Czechs' two.

The Spanish duo displayed their intent from the start by breaking serve in the opening game. Despite improvements from Muchova and Noskova, Bucsa and Sorribes managed another break to take a commanding lead.

The Czechs had opportunities but failed to capitalise, allowing Bucsa and Sorribes to dominate. They never looked back after gaining an early lead in both sets.

This victory adds to Spain's successful day in tennis at the Paris Olympics. With strong performances across different events, Spanish athletes continue to shine on this international stage.
