Sridhar upsets Russian, Rastogi sails in 2nd round of ITF Futures

New Delhi, Jan 30 (UNI) Qualifier Vinod Sridhar scored an upset victory over eighth seeded Russian Alexander Kudryavtsev while Karan Rastogi came back from behind to beat qualifier Huai-en Chang of Chinese Taipei 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 in the first round matches of the ITF Men's Futures tennis tournament at the DLTA courts here today.

Sridhar beat Alexander 3-6, 6-3, 6-0 to book a place in the second round where he will meet Panfil Grzegorz of Poland who beat young Indian qualifier Sanam Singh 6-4, 6-2, while Rastogi will play against compatriot Vijay Kannan who got the better of Chu-Huan Yi of Chinese Taipei 6-4, 7-2.

The other seed who fell today was seventh seeded Artemon Apostu Epremov of Romania beaten 2-6, 1-6 by Ervand Gasparyan of Russia.

In other matches, fourth seeded Divij Sharan accounted for qualifier Stephan Amritraj 6-3, 6-4 while Vivek Shokeen beat Sunil Kumar Sipaeya 6-3, 6-4 to book a second round class with top seed Alexei Kedriouk of Kazakhstan Meanwhile, wild card Vishnu Vardhan downed Tsung-Hua Yang of Chinese Taipei 6-3, 7-5, while another wild card Indian Vishal Uppal chalked out a hard fought 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 victory over compatriot Aditya Mudkekar.

Six seeded Todor Enev of Bulgaria had little difficulty to brush aside Vishal Punia 6-1, 6-4.
