Yuki's push to stay injury-free
Sumit didn't have to struggle much against Vijay Sundar, who was guilty of committing seven double faults during the match. Five of those double faults came in the first set, which saw Sumit break his opponent in the third game itself. Vijay Sundar briefly recovered in the fifth game, but Sumit quickly marched to take the set in 27 minutes.
The second set started with Sumit breaking Vijay Sundar in the first game itself. Vijay Sundar kept playing the shots out to hand Sumit the advantage. The 20-year-old was stretched but he claimed the set in 29 minutes.

Earlier, Prajnesh Gunneswaran defeated American Evan King 6-4 6-4. It was the third time in the last two months that the duo met in the first round. Prajnesh was beaten in Pune last week but he exacted revenge in straight sets on Monday. In the first outing, at the Tiburon Challenger, it was the Chennai-based Prajnesh who emerged triumphant.
Prajnesh later combined with Ramkumar Ramanathan and sailed past the duo of Suraj Prabodh and Nitin Kumar Sinha (IND) 6-2 6-2 in a doubles tie. In another encounter, the third seeded Indian pair of N Sriram Balaji and Vishnu Vardhan marched ahead with an easy 6-0 6-3 victory over the duo from Spain - Mario Vilella and Bernabe Zapata Miralles, the first alternate team. The original opponents Pedja Krstin of Serbia Tsung Hua Yang had to withdraw owing to the former dropping out in the second set of his singles match against Brydan Klein earlier in the day.
