Tarrannum, Thien win Asian Jr Tennis titels

Chandigarh, Nov 6 (UNI) Top seed Tarrannum Handa defeated sixth seed C Sai Samitha 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 to win the girls singles crown in the Asian Junior Circuit Tennis Tournament here today.

Mostly hitting from the baseline and involved in long rallies, Tarrannum Handa took 150 minutes to prevail over Samitha. Second seed Nguyen Hoang Thien of Vietnam upset top seed Vishal Passi in the boys singles final in straight sets 6-4, 6--2 at the centre court.

Results (finals): Boys singles: Nguyen Hoang Thien (Vietnam) bt Vishal Passi 6-4, 6-2.

Girls singles: Tarrannum Handa (India) bt C Sai Samitha (India) 6-4, 4-6, 7-5.
