Tennis fans in Karnataka are in for some really exciting days ahead; KSLTA to host four more ITF events

Bengaluru, Sep 20: Close on the heels of the success of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior 2023 J30 Bengaluru tournament, the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association (KSLTA) will be hosting four more ITF events in the next two months.

These four tournaments are another feather in the cap of KSLTA, which hosted the ATP Challenger 100 event in February and seven ITF Futures events across the state - four men and three women - this year.

Next up for KSLTA is the back-to-back events in October, both for men. The ITF World Tennis Tour (WTT) M25 Dharwad tournament will be held from 16 to 22 and then in the following week, (October 23 to 29), the ITF WTT M15 Davangere event will be held.

"KSLTA is the only state in the country which has hosted international ranking tournaments in 11 different districts and now we're working on bringing other districts also under this club which would also project the state as a progressive sports loving state," said KSLTA Senior Vice President and Karnataka's IT/BT minister Priyank Kharge.

In November also, KSLTA will be hosting back-to-back events -- one for women and the other for men. While the women's event will be held in Bengaluru, the men's tournament will be held in Kalaburgi.

The ITF W25 Bengaluru tournament will be held at the Bowring Institute courts from November 20 to 26. The Grade 2 tournament which offers a prize money of $25,000 is likely to draw the cream of ITF talent to Namma Bengaluru.

That will be followed by the ITF Kalaburgi M25 event from November 27 to December 3.

These events will help further in making Karnataka as a major tennis destination as well as in nurturing home talent.

"All these four upcoming ITF events fall in line with KSLTA'S goal to promote sports and tennis across the state with these ITF events. We're expecting young players and parents of young children to get inspired through these events," said KSLTA Secretary Maheshwar Rao.
